Zendo is a wearable tDCS-based neurostimulation device designed to enhance meditation, calm, focus, and present-moment awareness.
Zendo is a wearable neurotechnology platform designed to enhance meditation through gentle, non-invasive electrical brain stimulation. Developed by neuroscientist Bashar Badran, PhD, and psychiatrist and longtime meditator Baron Short, MD, Zendo grew out of research at the Medical University of South Carolina exploring “E-Meditation” — the combination of mindfulness practice with transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS).
The Zendo headband delivers low-level electrical stimulation through electrodes on the forehead during 20-minute sessions, targeting brain regions associated with attention, emotional regulation, and meditative states. The company positions the device as a way to help both novice and experienced meditators quiet the mind and access calm, focused states more easily. Zendo sits at the intersection of contemplative practice, neuroscience, and consumer neurotechnology.
