Interdisciplinary research center studying consciousness through humanities, AI, and neuroscience
CHAIN (Center for Human-Nature, Artificial Intelligence, and Neuroscience) is an interdisciplinary research and education center at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan, established in 2019. Faculty are organized into groups addressing four themes: the self, consciousness, sociality, and rationality, integrating philosophical inquiry with neuroscience and AI methods. The center partners with institutions including Ruhr University Bochum, University of Trento, Monash University, and Caltech, and offers graduate programs for Master's and PhD students.
